Schroeder News: Summer 2011

Dear Friends and Family,
It is hard to believe it is that time of year again. We are getting camp ready for the busy season; there is lots of work to be done. We had so much rain and some snow in May that it has delayed the work at camp. But the Lord is in control and has a perfect plan for everything.

Men’s Retreat

We have already had the Men’s Work Retreat and there were about 15 men who attended. There were many projects this year that needed to be done. But we also had one unexpected project in our midst. There was a problem with the older water system, which is below the chlorinator leading down to the dining hall. A neighbor was very generous and allowed us to use his small excavator to dig up everything and fix the piping. It was a big job. Praise the Lord that it is done and working well. We are also putting and add on to the nurses’ cabin for a toilet and shower. At the men’s retreat they torn off the old addition and got it ready for the new. A porch is being put on our cabin because the roof slopes in such a way the all the snow falls right in front of the door, which makes it hard to access in the winter. Also there were men working on the road, removing rocks and things because it got torn up from putting in the new water line last fall.
The Men’s Retreat was very profitable. Projects were worked on, the Men were challenged out of God’s Word from Pastor John Owens (Pastor of Bible Center in Paonia, CO), and they had fun shooting clay pigeons.

Upcoming Events

On June 23-25th we have a Family Reunion and then our camps start on July 11th for the 3-4th graders and go through August 6th for High School. September 2-5th we have TPBC Family Camp, and September 23-25th is the TPBC Ladies Retreat. Please be praying for everyone at camp this summer. The Lord has certain plans in store and we want His Will to be done.

*Counselors needed for 5,6th and 7th,8th grade weeks.

Follow Me

Our Heavenly Father instructs us to put Him First. He will help you Forget. He will enable you to Forgive and keep you Focused on your goal. He will Fellowship with you, be your closest Friend (closer than a brother), hear your Fervent prayer, calm your Fears, bless your Finances, meet your needs, Feed you with the bread of Life, Free you from anxiety, give you Favor, make you Fruitful. He will Fill your heart with love, joy, and peace.
Why would you not trust Your Future to Him?

We wanted to thank you so much for your interest in our lives and how the Lord is working in and through us. Thank you for being a part of what the Lord is doing through Twin Peaks Bible Camp. People are not only being affected in this life, but for eternity also.

Fun with Saddie's Puppies

Our dog Saddie had nine puppies in February. The kids loved it so much, it was a blast!! They grew too fast, and have been gone for about a month now. Saddie acted relieved, Freedom!!! We probably will breed her again in a year or so. It was a neat experience.

Schroeder News: Winter 2010 and Spring 2011

This last year the Lord has been working in our hearts about contentment and true joy. Contentment is a choice; remembering that God is sovereign and in absolute control of everything. Psalm 103:19 says, “The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, and His sovereignty rules over all.” The Lord has a plan and a purpose for where He places us and what He wants us to do. Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” True joy is only found in Him, and Him alone. The things of this earth will not fully satisfy, they are temporal and empty. But Jesus Christ is the only one who truly fulfills us, He gives us a purpose. Thank you Lord.
Winter Camp:
This year we had 30+ kids attend camp. The amount of snow was low this year, we only had eight inches of snow and it was like ice. The kids still had fun playing touch football, games, sledding, and just hanging out. The Speaker for the camp was Tyler Bratton who was doing an internship at Monument View Bible Church in Fruita, Colorado. He spoke on the book of Philemon and did an excellent job.
Rental Camps:
Then in January we had two different churches rent the camp for a teen retreat. They had a wonderful time in God’s Word and they also played many fun games outside. We had more snow for these groups. We cooked, cleaned, and kept fires going.
In February we had two more rental groups and our Family Sled Day. This winter we had many challenges as we tried to get ready for the groups coming in. It seemed like every time we had to get ready for a group coming in we had problems. Broken pipes, frozen water, generator problems, or the tractor wasn’t working. But the Lord worked all of the details out and we were able to have these retreats. Praise the Lord, He is so faithful, gracious, and merciful. He continually reminds us that we cannot do anything with out Him. He is in absolute control.
Throughout these several months Aaron and Brian have been plowing the road in order to keep the camp open year round.
March has picked up for Brian at the butcher shop, which has been a blessing. It slowed down a lot in February, but the Lord always provides in His way and in His time.

Tessa, Abigail and Josiah
We have chosen to home-school, so Abigail is in Preschool now and they are having a lot of fun. Abigail especially loves the different science experiments. Abigail and Daddy made a homemade kite and they are excited to test it out soon. Abigail says that her Daddy is her sweet heart (oh, it is so cute). Josiah is 17 months now and we call him our little monster. He is such a character; he is always making us laugh. He loves to play with his sister or he gets in these moods where he just wants to torture her. They keep life interesting for sure!!!

Praises:
*The Lord is teaching us a lot about Himself and about ourselves and how we need to become more like Him.
*Seeing how our kids are growing in many different ways.
*We were able to sell our 9 puppies, truck, and motor home.
*The Lord provided the means and time for us to go visit Brian’s parents in Missouri.
*For all the winter camps we had this year.

Prayer Requests:
*Upcoming summer: counselors, kitchen help needed.
*Unity as staff and volunteers
*Growth in our marriage and for wisdom raising our kids.
*Our personal walks with the Lord
*Salvation of new campers and spiritual growth for those returning to camp

In Christ,
Brian, Tessa, Abigail and Josiah

Schroeder News: Fall 2010

Schroeder News
Fall 2010

Dear Friends and Family,
It is that time of year again when the trees are so colorful and beautiful. I love the changing of the seasons and how God has designed everything to work together. He is the Creator and the Sustainer. Although the seasons have changed and our world is changing, our God never changes. Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” God has also preserved the Bible, it never changes. Isaiah 40:8 says, “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God stands forever.” That is so comforting to know that we can always trust Him and rely upon what He says in His Word.
We want to praise the Lord for getting the new septic system in at camp after six years of trying. We had to go through many hoops with the state in order to get the permit. We also want to thank the Lord for some very generous brothers in Christ who donated their time and equipment to make this possible. The new system is a large system that will accommodate our future bath house and all other future buildings. This project took about three weeks to accomplish. We are praising the Lord that He provided the permit, the help, the funds, and safety during this time. Please be praying
with us as we have to raise the funds for the Bath House.
This fall we were also very busy with camps going on. We had family camp, which was over Labor Day weekend. We had a great group. The speaker was Warren Cheek from Frontier School of the Bible. He did a wonderful job as he challenged us out of John 15-16 Then we had women’s retreat on September 17-19th. It was a group of about 40 women who came up. We enjoyed the fall leaves, played games, ate lots of food, and were challenged out of God’s Word. The speaker was Ginger Millermon, who is a very talented singer, and speaker. She ministers to women all over the country through music, her testimony, and through sharing God’s Word. The next two weekends we had two rental groups. It has been a very busy fall. The men are also preparing everything for the winter. They are also chipping brush, and cutting up trees that were in the way when the septic system went in. Our next event is winter camp, which is for teenagers, and is after Christmas. This winter we also have 3-4 rental groups in January and February.
Brian is a busy man working at camp, the butcher shop, around the ranch, with the kids at church, etc. I stay busy at home. The kids are growing so fast. Josiah just started to crawl and he is now 10 months old. He is such a happy boy!!! He
loves to play with his big sister. Abigail is a big girl now. Her favorite thing is to make bracelets and necklaces. She also loves to read, feed the chickens and get their eggs. It is so neat because she is starting to understand some things about who God is and different things that the Bible teaches.
Thank you so much for your love, support, and prayers. We hope you are encouraged to hear what the Lord is doing at camp.

In Christ,
Brian, Tessa, Abigail, Josiah Schroeder
