Schroeder News: Winter 2010 and Spring 2011

This last year the Lord has been working in our hearts about contentment and true joy. Contentment is a choice; remembering that God is sovereign and in absolute control of everything. Psalm 103:19 says, “The Lord has established His throne in the heavens, and His sovereignty rules over all.” The Lord has a plan and a purpose for where He places us and what He wants us to do. Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” True joy is only found in Him, and Him alone. The things of this earth will not fully satisfy, they are temporal and empty. But Jesus Christ is the only one who truly fulfills us, He gives us a purpose. Thank you Lord.
Winter Camp:
This year we had 30+ kids attend camp. The amount of snow was low this year, we only had eight inches of snow and it was like ice. The kids still had fun playing touch football, games, sledding, and just hanging out. The Speaker for the camp was Tyler Bratton who was doing an internship at Monument View Bible Church in Fruita, Colorado. He spoke on the book of Philemon and did an excellent job.
Rental Camps:
Then in January we had two different churches rent the camp for a teen retreat. They had a wonderful time in God’s Word and they also played many fun games outside. We had more snow for these groups. We cooked, cleaned, and kept fires going.
In February we had two more rental groups and our Family Sled Day. This winter we had many challenges as we tried to get ready for the groups coming in. It seemed like every time we had to get ready for a group coming in we had problems. Broken pipes, frozen water, generator problems, or the tractor wasn’t working. But the Lord worked all of the details out and we were able to have these retreats. Praise the Lord, He is so faithful, gracious, and merciful. He continually reminds us that we cannot do anything with out Him. He is in absolute control.
Throughout these several months Aaron and Brian have been plowing the road in order to keep the camp open year round.
March has picked up for Brian at the butcher shop, which has been a blessing. It slowed down a lot in February, but the Lord always provides in His way and in His time.

Tessa, Abigail and Josiah
We have chosen to home-school, so Abigail is in Preschool now and they are having a lot of fun. Abigail especially loves the different science experiments. Abigail and Daddy made a homemade kite and they are excited to test it out soon. Abigail says that her Daddy is her sweet heart (oh, it is so cute). Josiah is 17 months now and we call him our little monster. He is such a character; he is always making us laugh. He loves to play with his sister or he gets in these moods where he just wants to torture her. They keep life interesting for sure!!!

Praises:
*The Lord is teaching us a lot about Himself and about ourselves and how we need to become more like Him.
*Seeing how our kids are growing in many different ways.
*We were able to sell our 9 puppies, truck, and motor home.
*The Lord provided the means and time for us to go visit Brian’s parents in Missouri.
*For all the winter camps we had this year.

Prayer Requests:
*Upcoming summer: counselors, kitchen help needed.
*Unity as staff and volunteers
*Growth in our marriage and for wisdom raising our kids.
*Our personal walks with the Lord
*Salvation of new campers and spiritual growth for those returning to camp

In Christ,
Brian, Tessa, Abigail and Josiah
